A facile and novel emulsion for efficient and convenient fabrication of durable superhydrophobic materials

摘要:
There are significant challenges related to practical applications of superhydrophobic materials due to their limited durability, difficult processing conditions, and complicated synthesis procedures. In this study, a facile and novel emulsion composed of nanopartilcles (i.e. SiO2 or TiO2) and epoxy resin was synthesized to produce superhydrophobic surfaces using spraying, dipping and brushing methods, mimicking ordinary household paints. The obtained superhydrophobic materials had a water contact angle (CA) of ∼152° and a sliding angle (SA) of ∼6° at the room temperature. Interestingly, the emulsion demonstrated a great versatility for application in type of materials and application methods. The hierarchical surface structure fabricated by the emulsion was found to be independent of the substrate type and processing method, resulting in similar water repellent performance among all surfaces obtained. The superhydrophobic surfaces also exhibited excellent durability even after sustaining a series of mechanical damages including finger wiping, tape peeling and sandpaper abrasion. Moreover, they were able to maintain their superhydrophobic performance after immersion in aqueous solutions of pH ranging from 1 to 13 and boiling in water at 100°C. This study shows that the novel emulsion can be used to fabrication of superhydrophobic surfaces using a one-step method that is green, versatile, scalable and independent of operator skill, special equipment, and the type of substrate. It has an excellent promise for real life applications. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

以玉米淀粉为原料,盐酸为酸解剂,高碘酸钠为氧化剂,采用一步酸解氧化法合成双醛淀粉,经傅里叶变换红外光谱仪表征证明成功制得了双醛淀粉.研究了反应温度、反应时间、盐酸浓度和淀粉乳浓度对双醛淀粉醛基含量的影响,并利用X射线衍射仪和热重分析仪进行了表征.结果表明,双醛淀粉的醛基含量随着反应温度的升高和反应时间的延长而增大,55℃和4 h后,酸解氧化趋于稳定.盐酸浓度和淀粉乳浓度过高会导致双醛淀粉的醛基含量下降,分别以0.6 mol/L和8%为宜.X射线衍射仪分析表明,随着盐酸浓度的增加,双醛淀粉的结晶度升高;热重分析仪分析表明,结晶度高的双醛淀粉热分解残余量也更多,而热分解初始温度随着盐酸浓度增加而降低.

以麦秸、木材碎料和无机胶黏剂制备麦秸/木材三层结构刨花板.研究麦秸与木材配比、板材密度、热压时间和温度对板材性能的影响.结果表明:随麦秸配比增加,板材抗弯性能降低,内结合强度增大,吸水厚度膨胀率(TS)减小;随密度增加和热压时间延长,板材力学性能增大,TS降低;随热压温度升高,板材力学性能先增大后减小,TS呈相反趋势.优化制板工艺为:碎料配比5∶5,密度1.2 g/cm3,热压时间30 min,温度100℃.

摘要:
The main objective of this work was to study a new inorganic adhesive used for wood-based panel. Inorganic adhesive and its poplar plywood were prepared to investigate their properties. Thermogravimetric analysis tests revealed that the total mass loss of inorganic adhesive was 76.24%, which was higher than that of phenol-formaldehyde resin (64.97%). The results showed better thermal stability of inorganic adhesive. For inorganic adhesive plywood, approximately 30% decrease in peak of heat release rate, 62% in total smoke production and 20% in mean CO2 yield, respectively, were seen compared to the control by cone calorimeter analysis. Scanning electron microscopy imaged wider glue line of inorganic adhesives plywood, which was related to the bonding strength of plywood. Thus the inorganic adhesive of fireproofing made in lab could be better used for plywood processing. © 2017 American Scientific Publishers.

以碳纳米管和氧化石墨烯为原料,二者按5∶3混合超声分散再高温还原制备碳纳米管/石墨烯/天然石墨(CNTs/ rGO/NG)锂离子复合负极材料。采用扫描电镜(SEM)、X射线衍射(XRD)、红外光谱(FTIR)和电化学测试等分析技术对复合材料的形貌、结构、电化学进行表征。结果表明:石墨烯和碳纳米管在天然石墨表面形成三维立体网络结构。与纯天然石墨相比,CNTs/rGO/NG复合材料具有良好的倍率性能和循环寿命,在0.1C时首次放电比容量为479mAh/g,可逆容量达473mAh/g,循环100次后容量为439.5mAh/g,容量保持率为92%,在0.5,1,5C不同电流倍率时容量依次为457,433,394mAh/g。

摘要:
In this article, the low-field nuclear magnetic resonance was used to measure the moisture content (MC) and MC profiles in poplar wood during real-time drying. The T2 distribution curve at each drying stage measured using the Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill pulse sequence provided detailed information in the dynamic change of free water as well as bound water of the whole wood sample. In addition, a new developed SE-SPI pulse sequence was first used to evaluate the spatially resolved T2 distribution of the successive nondestructive sliced layer of wood. Combined with the area integration method, the moisture content in each layer was calculated, and the change of MC profiles within wood at the MC above and below fiber saturation point was well reflected. © 2017 Taylor & Francis.

In this study, eucalyptus wood was subjected to thermal treatment with super-heated steam under various conditions. The effects of temperature and exposure time on the functional groups and degree of cellulose crystallinity of the eucalyptus wood (Eucalyptus grandis3Eucalyptus urophylla) were analyzed. The results showed that the thermal treatment caused significant changes in the chemical composition and structure of wood. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) absorption peaks of the hydroxyl group decreased from 3,425 to 3,250 cm1 for all thermally treated samples. Higher treatment temperature and extended exposure led to the lower methyl levels, with almost no methyl present at 2208C. The aromatic ring first increased and then decreased with increasing temperature and exposure time. The carbonyl group maintained the same intensity, with small fluctuations, across the different thermal treatment conditions. Compared with the untreated wood sample, the X-ray diffraction peak position of thermally treated samples shifted slightly left from 22.028 to 21.068, and the distance between crystal planes increased. The degree of cellulose crystallinity of eucalyptus wood was affected significantly by treatment temperature with a confidence level of 99 percent. © Forest Products Society 2017.

以硅丙乳液为改性剂,通过扫描电镜(SEM)、X射线衍射仪(XRD)等手段分析了添加量对镁系无机胶黏剂复合板材力学强度、耐水性能、阻燃性能和镁系无机胶黏剂凝固时间的影响原因。结果表明:硅丙乳液与镁系无机胶黏剂可以形成有机无机的互穿网络结构;随着添加量增大,硅丙乳液的成膜性增强,使镁系无机胶黏剂的黏结性能及材料的整体性增加,复合板材力学性能增强,耐水性能提高;添加量增加的同时也会延缓镁系无机胶黏剂的凝固时间,但不会对镁系无机胶黏剂的晶相组成产生影响;此外,镁系无机胶黏剂还赋予秸秆板较好的阻燃抑烟特性,硅丙乳液的添加对复合板材的阻燃性能没有明显影响。

摘要:
Bonding strength in the structure of engineered wood products and composites is one of the vital properties for their application. Up to now, numerous research efforts have been made on improving durability, wettability, and strength of resins or adhesives. However, there are only a few reports on how to improve bond line strength according to wood feature itself. In this study, a new conceptual bonding design based on wood radial section feature was reported. In this design, finger-joint like bonding interfaces were generated by hot pressing two resin coated wood radial sections together at optimized pressure of 300 lb per square inch (psi). By this design, the wet bonding strength of the bond line has potential to be higher than dry bonding strength. Meanwhile, with a compression ratio of 7.3% of wood strips, the obtained dry bonding or shear strength has been significantly increased up to 33.9%, as compared to end matched tangential controls. Wood specific gravity played an important role in this design. A proper compression ratio explored here in the radial section was about 17%. This work has provided a new route to improve wood bonding strength in an environmentally friendly way. Its impact on bending strength and dimensional stability of bonded wood structures needs to be further investigated. © 2017

Dialdehyde starch was prepared by one-step synthesis of acid hydrolysis and oxidation, using corn starch as the raw material, sodium periodate (NaIO4) as the oxidant, and hydrochloric acid (HCl) as the acid solution. The prepared dialdehyde starch was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The results confirmed that oxidation occurred between the starch and NaIO4. The acid hydrolysis reaction reduced the molecular weight of starch and effectively improved the aldehyde group contents (92.7%). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis indicated that the average particle size decreased after acid hydrolysis and oxidation reaction. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) analysis demonstrated that the crystallinity of the obtained dialdehyde starch showed a downward trend and a decelerated thermal decomposition rate. The starch after acid hydrolysis and oxidation exhibited lower hot paste viscosity and higher reactivity.

以玉米淀粉为原料,盐酸为酸解剂,高碘酸钠为氧化剂,通过酸解氧化法制备双醛淀粉.采用正交试验法研究了盐酸浓度、 反应温度和反应时间对双醛淀粉醛基含量的影响,通过效应曲线分析、 交互作用和显著性分析优化了酸解氧化工艺.结果表明:对双醛淀粉醛基含量的影响因素依次为反应温度、 反应时间、 盐酸浓度;双醛淀粉制备的最优工艺条件为盐酸浓度0.9 mol/L、反应温度55℃、 反应时间2 h,在此工艺条件下得到双醛淀粉的醛基含量为69.56%.

摘要:
Although there is a growing interest in utilizing nanocellulose fibres (NCFs) based composites for achieving a higher sustainability, mechanical performance of these composites is limited due to the poor compatibility between fibre reinforcement and polymer matrices. Here we developed a bio-nanocomposite with an enhanced fibre/resin interface using a hybrid-toughened epoxy. A strong reinforcing effect of NCFs was achieved, demonstrating an increase up to 88% in tensile strength and 298% in tensile modulus as compared to neat petro-based P-epoxy. The toughness of neat P-epoxy was improved by 84% with the addition of 10 wt% bio-based E-epoxy monomers, which also mitigated the amount of usage of bisphenol A (BPA). The morphological analyses showed that the hybrid epoxy improved the resin penetration and fibre distribution significantly in the resulting composites. Thus, our findings demonstrated the promise of developing sustainable and high performance epoxy composites combing NCFs with a hybrid petro-based and bio-based epoxy resin system. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
Advanced flexible batteries with high energy density and long cycle life are an important research target. Herein, the first paradigm of a high-performance and stable flexible rechargeable quasi-solid-state Zn–MnO2 battery is constructed by engineering MnO2 electrodes and gel electrolyte. Benefiting from a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) buffer layer and a Mn2+-based neutral electrolyte, the fabricated Zn–MnO2@PEDOT battery presents a remarkable capacity of 366.6 mA h g−1 and good cycling performance (83.7% after 300 cycles) in aqueous electrolyte. More importantly, when using PVA/ZnCl2/MnSO4 gel as electrolyte, the as-fabricated quasi-solid-state Zn–MnO2@PEDOT battery remains highly rechargeable, maintaining more than 77.7% of its initial capacity and nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency after 300 cycles. Moreover, this flexible quasi-solid-state Zn–MnO2 battery achieves an admirable energy density of 504.9 W h kg−1 (33.95 mW h cm−3), together with a peak power density of 8.6 kW kg−1, substantially higher than most recently reported flexible energy-storage devices. With the merits of impressive energy density and durability, this highly flexible rechargeable Zn–MnO2 battery opens new opportunities for powering portable and wearable electronics. © 2017 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. 超疏水木材老化性能初步探究

摘要:
以杉木为基底,采用一步水热法在木材基底上构建超疏水结构,使水滴静态接触角可达151 °,滚动角小于5 °。并采用湿热老化实验和化学稳定性测试实验初步探究超疏水木材老化性能。实验结果表明,超疏水木材经72 h 湿热老化实验之后,表面水滴静态接触角仍可达150.5 °,其滚动角小于5 °。在强酸溶液中浸泡8 h 后水滴接触角仍可达150 °,但在强碱溶液中浸泡后水滴接触角急剧下降。

Hygroscopic behavior is an inherent characteristic of nanocellulose which strongly affects its applications. In this study, the water vapor sorption behavior of four nanocellulose samples, such as cellulose nanocrystals and nanofibers with cellulose I and II structures (cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) I, CNC II, cellulose nanofibers (CNF) I, and CNF II) were studied by dynamic vapor sorption. The highly reproducible data including the running time, real-time sample mass, target relative humidity (RH), actual RH, and isotherm temperature were recorded during the sorption process. In analyzing these data, significant differences in the total running time, equilibrium moisture content, sorption hysteresis and sorption kinetics between these four nanocellulose samples were confirmed. It was important to note that CNC I, CNC II, CNF I, and CNF II had equilibrium moisture contents of 21.4, 28.6, 33.2, and 38.9%, respectively, at a RH of 95%. Then, the sorption kinetics behavior was accurately described by using the parallel exponential kinetics (PEK) model. Furthermore, the Kelvin-Voigt model was introduced to interpret the PEK behavior and calculate the modulus of these four nanocellulose samples.

摘要:
以玉米淀粉为原料、次氯酸钠为氧化剂和聚乙烯醇(PVA)为接枝剂,采用氧化接枝法制备了淀粉胶;然后以酚醛树脂(PF)为交联剂,制得淀粉/PF复合胶。着重考察了淀粉胶/PF胶复配比例对复合胶固含量、黏度、胶接强度、耐水性和固化性能等影响。研究结果表明:当m(淀粉胶)∶m(PF胶)=3∶7时,复合胶的固含量、黏度、胶接强度和耐水性俱佳。当淀粉胶比例较小时,复合胶的固化放热量较大、固化速率较快;当淀粉胶比例继续增加时,复合胶的固化反应趋缓。

摘要:
The adsorbed water influences significantly, the physical and mechanical properties of wood. In the present paper, the spatial distribution of adsorbed water in wood cell walls has been studied by μ-Fourier transform infrared (μ-FTIR) and confocal Raman spectroscopy. In situ μ-FTIR spectra were collected from three randomly selected areas in different cell wall regions, which were exposed to an environment with 0% to 96% relative humidity (RH). The water adsorption sites were easily detectable based on OH, C=O, and C-O group vibrations and it was shown that the adsorbed water concentration was not uniform in different regions. Confocal Raman spectroscopy images were collected from the cell corner (CC) and middle layer of the secondary wall (S2) and the non-uniformity of water distribution could also be confirmed by this approach. It was demonstrated that both μ-FTIR and confocal Raman spectroscopy provide valuable information about the spatial distribution of adsorbed water in morphologically distinct cell wall regions. ©2017 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

Advanced flexible batteries with high energy density and long cycle life are an important research target. Herein, the first paradigm of a high-performance and stable flexible rechargeable quasi-solid-state Zn–MnO<inf>2</inf>battery is constructed by engineering MnO<inf>2</inf>electrodes and gel electrolyte. Benefiting from a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) buffer layer and a Mn<sup>2+</sup>-based neutral electrolyte, the fabricated Zn–MnO<inf>2</inf>@PEDOT battery presents a remarkable capacity of 366.6 mA h g<sup>−1</sup>and good cycling performance (83.7% after 300 cycles) in aqueous electrolyte. More importantly, when using PVA/ZnCl<inf>2</inf>/MnSO<inf>4</inf>gel as electrolyte, the as-fabricated quasi-solid-state Zn–MnO<inf>2</inf>@PEDOT battery remains highly rechargeable, maintaining more than 77.7% of its initial capacity and nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency after 300 cycles. 摘要:
Conductive polymers implemented in fibrous energy devices have drawn considerable attention because of their economic importance, good environmental stability, and electrical conductivity. Conductive polymers demonstrate interesting mechanical, electronic, and optical properties, controllable chemical and electrochemical behavior, and facile processability. This review elaborates on the latest research in conductive polymers in fibrous energy devices, such as fibrous supercapacitors, fibrous solar cells, and fibrous integrated energy devices. The performance requirements of these fibrous energy devices, with specific reference to related materials, fabrication techniques, fiber structure, and electronic transport as well as mechanical functionality, are also reviewed in this paper.
