Taking the Pinus elliottii planted forest in the urban-rural ecotones of Changsha as the re-search objective and adopting the conventional analyses and studies on soil properties, the results indicated that: the soil moisture content was low, which was not suitable for the growth and development of new plants; the contents of soil organic carbon(SOC) in P. elliottii planted forest significantly decreased with increasing soil depth while the soil pH value increased across the soil depth; SOC contents in different lay-ers had a significant negative correlation with the soil pH value (r=-0. 685, ...
