A method of microwave-assisted extraction and gas chromatography for determination of trace phenol in water was established. The conditions of microwave extraction and derivation were optimized. Acetone-cyclohexane （ 1 ： 1 ） mixture was used as extracting agent for water sample containing phenol and acetic anhydride was employed for the direct acetylation of phenol.
