The subdomain model for analytical calculation of magnetic field is widely developed to predict electromagnetic performance in permanent magnet ( PM) machines. Based on the principle of the mutual flux through the stator windings due to step-skewed PMs identical to that from equivalent non-skewed PMs, a 2D subdomain model of surface-mounted PM machines accounting for step-skewed magnets is proposed.
