We investigate the optical properties of a metallic nanoparticle array covered by a reduced cytochrome (Cyt) c molecule layer by using the finite-difference time-domain method. As the wavelength of the surface plasmon resonance of metallic nanoparticle array matches with that of the absorption peak of reduced Cyt c molecules, a pronounced spectral dip forms in extinction spectrum due to the plasmon resonance energy transfer from metallic nanoparticles to Cyt c molecules.
