传统的国际贸易理论不仅表明加工贸易能充分发挥我国的比较优势，并为确定我国在国际分工中的地位提供理论指导；产业内贸易理论指明了我国加工贸易产业结构转型升级的方向；跨国公司理论解释了加工贸易与我国吸引外商直接投资的紧密联系；国家竞争优势理论指出建立国家竞争优势是我国加工贸易可持续发展的动力。深入研究这些理论可以进一步明确如何开展加工贸易，确定中国在国际分工中的地位。
