The principles of cutter parameters, such as the cutter tilt angle, the blade angle, and the cutter radius, are investigated in the five-cut process and the duplex helical method. The duplex helical method is an advanced and primary manufacturing method of face-milled spiralbevel and hypoid gears, so it is necessary and urgent to understand its generalized theory.
