The basidiomycete Craterellus tubaeformis (Fries) Quélet is an important widespread ectomycorrhizal basidio-mycete found in the Northern Hemisphere. In this study, 12 samples of C. tubaeformis from North America and Europe were analyzed using internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences to reveal the correlation between ITS genotypes and geographic locations and to provide molecular evidence for the identification of C. tubaeformis from different habitats in North America and Europe.
