The permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) have been used in a variety of different industrial applications. The transient parameters of the PMSM determine the safe operation and stability of the whole system. This paper introduces Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) to identify the transient parameters of the PMSM. First of all, based on three-phase sudden short-circuit current, the DC and AC components from the transient current are extracted by using empirical mode decomposition (EMD).
