荣辱观是人们关于荣誉和耻辱及其相互关系的总的看法及根本观点，在道德体系中属于道德评价的范畴，是一种特殊的道德情感，体现着人们的道德价值观念，一直以来都是道德观中的重要内容。荣辱观对社会道德的实现，个人道德的形成，乃至个体人生价值的实现都有重要意义，充分认识荣辱观在道德体系中的地位及其巨大的社会价值，对社会主义荣辱观的研究无疑具有重要的积极推动作用。
