Based on an analysis of the calculation methods for the relative depth of compression zone about the eompression member with small eccentricity as regulated in Code for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Pre-stressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts (JTG D62-2004), the paper proves that the relative depth obtained by the design code has a large error, compared with the actual one in many situations, and it usually leads to some more or less requirement of the member's reinforcement.
