Twenty-two cultigens of jujube(Ziziphus jujuba)from seven production base areas across the country were compared in Chaling County, Hunan Province. The results show that 'Tianzao', 'Guanyang Changzao', 'Xiangzao', 'Tuanzao' and 'Yuanzao' are priority choices for extension in Southern China, characterized by their high per-tree yield, excellent consecutive bearing performance of the shoots in the young growth stage, good fruit bearing per shoot, big size of fruit, as well as fine tree form.
